Mitsubishi Ranks 2nd for Automotive Reputation
Mitsubishi ranks second among all mass-market auto brands in Reputation's annual customer experience survey. That's a huge turnaround that demonstrates just how much progress Mitsubishi has made over the past three years.

In 2020, Mitsubishi was ranked just 17th out of 19 brands included in the Reputation survey. In 2021, Mitsubishi was the survey's most improved brand, rising all the way to a No. 4 ranking. This year's even higher Automotive Reputation Report ranking is a testament to the lasting positive impact of all the changes Mitsubishi has made.

To enhance its customer experience, Mitsubishi refreshed all the vehicles in its lineup, including the Eclipse Cross and the bestselling Outlander SUV. It also launched a new Visual Identity Program to improve its dealerships and create a better shopping environment for customers. All of these changes have resulted in higher quality, more brand loyalty, and a more satisfying experience for anyone purchasing or servicing a Mitsubishi vehicle.

"Mitsubishi Motors is in the midst of a brand-wide moment, proven by exciting new vehicles, welcoming new and updated dealerships, and an absolute commitment to customer satisfaction. To see that work validated in the 2022 Reputation Auto Report rankings is exciting, to say the least, and is proof of the value of this hard work," said Mark Chaffin, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America.

To create its annual Automotive Reputation Report, Reputation gathers customer feedback from thousands of dealerships in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. After crunching the numbers, Reputation rates brands and dealerships on a 1,000-point Reputation Score scale.

Other standard features include LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Upgraded Interior

According to U.S. News, one of the top points in the 2022 Outlander's favor is the "near-luxury quality" of its redesigned interior. A gloss black shift panel, satin chrome inner door handles, cloth door inserts, and fabric seat trim come standard to elevate the entry-level Outlander. On higher trims, you can opt for seats trimmed in synthetic leather suede, regular leather, or semi-aniline leather. Mitsubishi Ranks Top 3 in 2021 Customer Service Index Study

When it comes to determining the satisfaction of drivers like you, few sources are as trusted as J.D. Power. The results of its 2021 Customer Service Index Study have now been revealed, and we're proud to say that Mitsubishi finished with the third-highest ranking of all the brands included in the study.

A Thorough Process

The J.D. Power Customer Service Index Study surveys drivers on their experiences with customer service at dealerships across the country. The 62,519 vehicle owners included in the study reported on such factors as the quality of their service, how the service was initiated, the professionalism of the staff, the facility where the service was done, and even the vehicle pick-up experience where applicable. The vehicles surveyed were between one and three model years old.

Changing Times

Unsurprisingly, the study revealed that customers reported better experiences for automakers that provided online options for vehicle inspection, customization, and payment. Owing to the current COVID-19 pandemic, many customers preferred to do their vehicle shopping from home, and the results of the 2021 study reflect this shift.
"By continuing to provide an exceptional service experience, dealers have an opportunity to seize an even greater share of the market," says Chris Sutton, vice president of automotive retail at J.D. Power. "It's notable, too, that while service was less frequent in 2020, customers responded very well to convenience services such as vehicle pick-up and drop-off at their home."

Ranking High

Thanks to its continuing dedication to its customers, Mitsubishi easily ranked in the top three brands included in the 2021 Customer Service Index Study. The automaker actually performed higher in 2021 than it did in 2020, securing an extra 11 points for a final score of 857 points out of a possible 1,000. What's more, the brand also tied for first place in service quality measurement among non-premium brands, and held onto its title of top-rated Asian mass-market brand in the study for its third year.

Mitsubishi Motors Ranks Sixth in JD Power 2020 IQS

Mitsubishi Motors has plenty to celebrate thanks to its performance in the J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Initial Quality Study. The 2020 IQS ranked the automaker in sixth place overall, a huge jump from last year's ranking of 30th. Its enviable position helped Mitsubishi to triumph over other Japanese brands in the study, and several of its vehicles landed in the top three of their respective segments.

"The 2020 results recognize our focus on quality, reliability and value in all Mitsubishi vehicles. Our rankings in this study gives us even more reason to continue our commitment to innovation," said Yoichi Yokozawa, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America.

The J.D. Power IQS has been rating vehicles for 34 years based on the problems owners report during their first 90 days of driving. This year's study focuses on 2020 models, 33 automotive brands and survey responses from 87,282 owners. Each vehicle receives a score, represented by PP100 - the reported problems per 100 vehicles. The lower the score a vehicle earns the higher quality you can expect from it.

Notable Finishes

Taking third place in its category of small SUV was the well-equipped and adventure-ready Mitsubishi Outlander Sport; it tied with the Buick Encore and Chevrolet Trax.
